AVON HAWGs DONATE
EQUIPMENT TO BENEFIT CHILDREN AT
F.F. THOMPSON
HOSPITAL
CANANDAIGUA, NY – The Avon HAWGs, a club for Harley-Davidson
motorcycle owners and enthusiasts, purchased, delivered and assembled a
multitude of items for children on the 3 East unit of F.F. Thompson
Hospital on September 16. The
donation came in response to a “wish list” provided by the nursing
staff on 3 East. The Avon
HAWGs raised so much money at a recent Bald Hill Hawgbarn fundraiser for
Multiple Sclerosis that they had a surplus, and decided a gift to F.F.
Thompson Hospital benefiting ill children in our community was their
choice of charities.
The list of donated items included: three TV
carts, three TV/VCR combination units, SONY Playstations, video games
and movies, board games, stuffed animals, dolls, high chair, infant
swing, pack ‘n’ play crib, and more.
Not only did nine members of the Avon HAWGs deliver the items,
they also helped transport them to the nursing unit and stayed for an
hour to assist in the assembly of every item they purchased.
Within minutes of completion, the items were being enjoyed by
some of Thompson’s youngest patients.
“This
gift means so much to Thompson,” Joni Tiller, President of F.F.
Thompson Hospital, said. “It is wonderful to see members of our
community devote their time and their fundraising efforts to help
children at our hospital. Our
medical staff and nursing staff thank the HAWGs for their thoughtfulness
and generosity.”
